Unity is Strength Assembly

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe in the core value and strength of unity. On 31st October 2018, a special assembly on ‘National Unity Day’ was conducted to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The students understood the importance of unity and Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s ideology through various facts, poem and an article. The students along with Principal, Academic Coordinator and teachers took a pledge to maintain unity and harmony with people around them.

 

Dussehra Assembly

Dussehra is one of the major festivals of India, which celebrates the victory of good over evil. On 16th October 2018 a special assembly was conducted by Tagore House with a message of ‘defeating our inner evil through our inner good’. The assembly witnessed an amalgamation of rhythmic poems, songs and vivid description of the festival. Honourable principal ma’am addressed the gathering with her wisdom of creating a balance between our inner debate of good and evil.

 

Peepal Baba Workshop

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9 Rohini, believe in maintaining a clean and green surrounding. To keep up with this spirit on 15th October 2018, Swami Prem Parivartan AKA ‘Peepal Baba’, Speaker of the year team, Fever 104 team with RJ RAHUL MAKKIN visited the school to introduce “Project Green Hearts”, which aimed at ‘Generating awareness about environment conservation and bringing about effective sustainability, to the students. The guests were welcomed by revered Principal ma’am, Dr. Shipra Kumar, with young saplings as an initiation towards the cause. The students from classes IV-IX enjoyed being the part of the fun filled activities, dance and sing-alongs conducted by the team. The students were also an active member of the tree plantation drive conducted under this project.

 

Hindi Diwas

We, at GD Goenka public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe in appreciating and honoring all the languages we speak. On 12th October 2018, a special assembly was conducted by the students of GD Goenka Public School Sec -9, Rohini to mark the importance of the country’s most widely spoken language. The assembly witnessed a mono act, a speech on the importance of Hindi language and a wonderful poem.

 

Pratham Workshops

We at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini believe that a child’s true learning cannot be limited only to classrooms. To give an enriching environment to our students, we, along with Pratham Institute, organised a series of workshop from 4 October 2018 to 8 October’2018 in the school premises. The resource people from Pratham engaged students from class IX- XII by providing them experience of different skills like group discussions, Vedic maths and enriched vocabulary and guided them towards their future prospects. Group Discussion

In today’s world discussion is an important skill everyone must develop. GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini along with ‘Hindustan Times’ organised a group discussion session on various social issues for students from classes XI-XII on 5th  October 2018. The resource person, Ms. Deepti, guided the students throughout the session and gave them constructive feedback to develop their discussion skills.

 

Menstrual Hygiene and Teenage psychology Workshop

Teenage is the most crucial age of ones’ life, especially for girls. We at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini believe that it is important to discuss about the basic needs and problems a child faces in these years to normalise the changes they are going through. Keeping this in mind on 3rd  October 2018, an interactive session was organised by the school in association with Diana Korr on ‘Menstrual hygiene’ and ‘Teenage Psychology’ for girls from classes VII-XII. The resource person, Dr. Pankhila Mittal, answered all the queries and issues the girls had. She also demystified various myths revolving around a girl’s menstrual cycle.

 

Changing Trend in Universities

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe that it is extremely important to maintain a connection within different levels of education. With ever-so-dynamic nature of universities, it has become mandatory to be aware about these changes especially when we gear up to send our 12th graders to the world of universities. On 1 October, 2018, GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, organised a workshop on “Changes in University Of Delhi and IP University along with other top universities.” Dr. GS Tuteja, Deputy Dean, Student Welfare, University of Delhi and Mr. Jitin Chawla, Founder and Director of Centre for Career Development, Delhi enlightened over 300 students and teachers of different schools who attended the workshop.

 

Robin Raina Foundation visit (NGO visit)

Through its Rotary Club, GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believes in creating compassionate human beings. On 29 September, 2018, 14 student volunteers from Rotary Club along with teachers Ms. Aastha Kochar, Ms. Rajbala Yadav and Mr. Ajay went to Robin Raina Foundation, Bawana. Children at Robin Raina Foundation couldn’t contain their joy when the student and teacher volunteers conducted various activities like music, theatre, dance and craft along with language and maths activities at the NGO. Volunteers felt deeply privileged for having contributed rice, tea, salt, milk, mugs and board games to the NGO for a noble cause.

 

International Peace Day

United Nation marked September 21 as ‘International Peace Day’ to encourage the world to work together towards the goal of world-wide peace. GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believes in inculcating the value of peace among our students who can further bring peace and harmony to this world if taught to hold candles of hope instead of guns of war at the right time. On 20 September, 2018 students of classes pre-school- II celebrated International Peace day at school by getting involved in various activities. The day started with everyone greeting each other with hugs followed by art activities like making cards containing messages of harmony and creating a beautiful craft of Dove, the symbol of peace. The day ended with a session of meditation as a step towards building peaceful and calm citizens of tomorrow.
