A day at WOW

Memories outside the class are equally important as inside the classroom

School days are the most important days of any individual’s life. The time spent with the classmates and the teachers serves as images and memories in mind that brings smile on the faces. On 12th November 2018 GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini took out the students of classes IX-XII from their regular school classes and went to ‘Worlds Of Wonder’. The students were welcomed with some of the most amazing and thrilling rides. The students were served with delicious food followed by an opportunity to rock the stage for a while and dance out their hearts.

 

World Cancer Day

On 6th November 2018 a special assembly was conducted by Grade IX-A to celebrate ‘Pink Day’ and take the opportunity to spread awareness about cancer. The assembly began with the prayer which was followed by a special presentation on cancer disease. The students presented themselves as survivors who with their courage fought against cancer and finally won it. Principal Dr. Shipra kumar, in her words of encouragement talked about the significance of will power and determination to overcome any difficult situation.

 

Diwali Celebration

Diwali is one of the most important Hindu festivals. On 5th November 2018, GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, celebrated Diwali with all the festivities and joy. The day started with Lakshmi and Ganesh puja when Radha Krishnan House hosted a special assembly on ‘Green Diwali’. The assembly was followed by a Rangoli making activity. The students worked as a team to decorate their classes beautifully and created mesmerizing rangolis in their respective classes.

 

Speaker of the year: Speak Shoot

Learning at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, is never limited to classroom. A major part of developing an overall personality is building up confidence and what would be a better way for it than facing the camera. On 1st November 2018, the school hosted the first round of ‘Speaker of the Year 2018’. A total strength of 34 students from class IV- X participated in the first round which consisted of a personal interview and Speak Shoot on the topic ‘Great Indian Inventions’.

 

Jazz and Jive

GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9 Rohini, believes in catering to different needs of students. Dance and music together works as food for learners’ soul which opens a horizon to express thoughts and bring forth the hidden potentials. Keeping this in mind on 12th October 2018 our young Goenkans celebrated Jazz and Jive day with much enthusiasm. Tiny-tots danced enthusiastically to the beats of Jazz and did their best to perform Jive dance forms. PPTs and videos were also shown in classrooms to ignite their curiosity. Through this dance, students had learned the spirit of team work, it helped in increasing their focus and they learnt the dance and music of different parts of the world which sensitized them towards the other culture of different countries.

 

Halloween

TRICK OR TREAT!!!!!
On 26 October 2018 the ground of GD Goenka Public School Sector-9, Rohini was filled with screams and fear as ‘Halloween’ hit the school a little early when a special assembly was conducted by Vivekananda House to celebrate ‘The Day of the Dead’. With world coming closer and everyone getting exposure to different cultures ‘Halloween’ is becoming widely celebrated festival in India. The students of Vivekananda house took this opportunity to scare their friends by dressing up as ‘living dead’ and sharing creative ideas to celebrate this day

 

Smile Day

October was a little extra cheerful at GD Goenka Public School Sector-9 Rohini, as it was raided by tiny smiling faces. On 26 October 2018, students of classes Pre-school - II celebrated Smile Day keeping in mind the slogan, ‘improving this world, one smile at a time’. The students made beautiful crafts batches of smileys and brought potato smiles in their lunch to enjoy this day

 

ARCUS Model United Nation

Model United Nation (MUN), is an educational stimulation in which students can learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. On 13th and 14th October 2018, GD Goenka Public School Sector-9 Rohini proudly hosted ARCUS Model United Nation Conference which was attended by around 250 delegates from various schools across India. The conference served as a valuable platform of learning, for the delegates and Goenkans. The two days conference witnessed many debates on pressing global issues which challenged students to take up new perspectives and enabled them to become better leaders of tomorrow.

 

German Reunification Day

Multilingualism is an important aspect of being a Goenkan. To mark the importance of another integral language taught at GD Goenka Public School Sector-9 Rohini, a special assembly was conducted by German students on 5th October 2018 on the account of ‘German Reunification Day’. The students were enlightened about different aspects related to the day through a beautiful ‘character parade’ conducted by our young Goenkans.

 

Unity is Strength Assembly

We, at GD Goenka Public School, Sector-9, Rohini, believe in the core value and strength of unity. On 31st October 2018, a special assembly on ‘National Unity Day’ was conducted to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The students understood the importance of unity and Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s ideology through various facts, poem and an article. The students along with Principal, Academic Coordinator and teachers took a pledge to maintain unity and harmony with people around them.
