Since we believe in learning that occurs at all levels, the school organized an I-Smart Boot camp for the students of classes VI-X on 10 February 2017 where the school became an arena of multiple physical activities like, tug-o-war, egg ball, etc., the crux of which was learning to take up healthy team spirit and time management. The learners went back with good memories and a realization that friends do not bring understanding but understanding brings in everlasting friendship.
The principal of the school quoted her views, “Whereas school applauds good marks…. such camps acknowledge and reward a wider range of accomplishments.”
Gd Goenka Sec-9 Rohini is reaching greater heights with each passing day. Recently the school became a part of SPACE ANNUAL MEET 2016 held at NDMC convention centre, on 21 January 2017. The laudatory event was about honoring the efforts of the schools and students for their achievements in the field of Astronomy. Our school won maximum nominations superseding approximately 150 schools all over India. Devansh Aggarwal and Divyansh Tyagi were awarded for achievement at International level AISAC. Shruti Gupta, Pranesh Ranjan and Arjun Rajput weren’t far behind as they awarded for online painting competition at National level. The school was awarded with a trophy and appreciation certificates for conducting Global Star Party in most innovative way. The principal of the school who has played a major role in moulding the clay of determination congratulated the winners and celebrated the win in the following way, “ I am happy that my Goenkans now know how and when to throw the ace.”
Alert Knowledge services decorated our respected Principal ma’am Dr. Ragini Kaul with a very prestigious International award ‘100 Highly Effective Principals of 2016’ on 31 January 2017. She received the honor and worded her thoughts, “Winning is a habit….unfortunately so is losing. In my case, failures have acted as a ladder to success and A self made woman is what I am today….who has always had a vision to practice the words of Nelson Mandela, “ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” I have given30 years of perseverance towards my goal….and that is goal-keeping…..the challenges that come towards me.”
The entire school celebrated the 68th Republic Day on 25 January 2017 saluting and exhibiting nation’s pride. First and foremost Indian flag was hoisted as a mark of respect. The Goenkans stood firm with heads held high symbolizing unity, equality and harmony and sang the national anthem in one voice. A special assembly was conducted on the occasion where the students talked about the importance of Republic Day. School echoed with the melodies of oneness and harmony. The Principal of the school talked about the selfless sacrifice of the martyrs “A salute to all those who have laid their lives for the nation…. ” May this celebration led everyone towards patriotism and instill love and harmony towards their brothers and sisters”

With an aim to keep the spirit alive in the hearts of students and teach them the importance of traditions and legacy, G.D Goenka Pubic School, Sector 9 organized a farewell for the outgoing batch of class XII on 25 January 2017. The day began in great excitement and merriment as class XII students dressed up to their glamorous best and were given a grand welcome at the red carpet. With a shower of flowers and sweet welcoming words from class XI students, they were ushered in by the student council asking them variety of questions pertaining to their feelings and excitement for the day’s events. The faculty and the students arranged for a lavish program for the 12thies. The queens were excited to get their photographs clicked at the ‘Selfie Booth’ and felt elated as they experienced a sense of nostalgia already. The principal Dr. Ragini Kaul found it difficult to word her feelings as her melancholic voice made it quite evident. She expressed herself in the following words, “a child’s birth is the happiest day for a mother….whereas, his/her success is the most cherished one.” I wish all of you success in the years lying ahead and may each one of you win hearts wherever you go….just like you did here.”
Britannica “Know for Sure” Quiz Competition 2016 was organized at GD Goenka Public School Sec-9 Rohini, on 9 December 2016. The event witnessed the presence of renowned schools who actively gathered for the clash of the dragons of wisdom. Britannica Encyclopedia is a 200 year old organization which has provided the world with unparalleled access to expert knowledge in all subject areas. In a world where questionable information is rampant even on the internet, Britannica is a centuries old trusted name which inspires confidence. The school became an arena putting the brilliance at display.Mr.Veid Prakash - Vice President, Encyclopedia Britannica,Mr. Rajneesh Grewal, Regional Manager, Encyclopedia Britannica and Mr. Vikas Sharma, Head Marketing and Communication Encyclopedia Britannica, South Asia,a prolific and dynamic Quiz Master were among the biggies who added grace to the event with their alive presence. The avid competitors displayed their expertise in the rounds of fire. Mt. Abu Public School, Delhi Public School, Rohini and GD Goenka Public School Sec-9 Rohini made it to the finals.Till the full stop doesn’t come, the sentence is incomplete. And this sentence was completed by GD Goenka Public School,Sector-9, giving a lead faraway from all and leaving Mt Abu Public School at II position and Delhi Public School Rohini at III position. Veidas Kasera and Himakshi Aggarwal of class VIII reached the finishing line with magnificence and wrote history in the book of Britannica Encyclopedia Know For Sure Quiz 2016. What a perfect gift before the arrival of the new. The elated principal of the school, Ms Ragini kaul worded her delight by congratulating the winners and stated , “ We do not believe in only competition. For us competition and collaboration go hand in hand as the former may make us faster but the latter makes us smarter.. I stand here proud to proclaim , “The harder the battle..... the sweeter is victory. Thankyou for adding this sweetness to the box full of honey.”
GD Goenka threw open its biggest event of the year-Resplendence 2016 - An Inter school Competition on 24 December. The clash was attended by many renowned schools and the host school also participated in healthy spirits. The list of competitions included techi Doodle Poster Designing, euphonic Sufiana Streak, bold War of Words , productive Live Art, brushed up Balfolk, rapid Clinch the Deal, rich Obfuscia Pigmentation, florid 3 D Wall Hanging and dramatic Abhinayan Samwadh. This event of recognition and reward became a memory to the marvels in the mesh of competitions. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates to acknowledge their efforts of ‘standing out’. The principal of the school congratulated and lauded the efforts of the participants and the winners.

GD Goenka Sector 9 is blessed indeed to have a tete-a-tete with the very courageous, the vivacious, the very energetic…..Mrs. SmritiIrani, theHon’bleMinister(HRD). A team of students along with the Principal, Headmistress and the Academic Coordinator had the privilege of meeting the hon’ble minister and striking a conversation with her on 1 September 2015, at 28 TughlakCrecent. The Goenkans were elated at the opportunity provided to them, where they were awed by the warm hospitality and the flashing smile of the Hon’bleMinister. The Principal of the school, Ms. Ragini Kaul said,“Meeting your idol is not always a matter of prestige… but a way to live your dream.”
Inspiration exists….but it has to see you working. Devansh Aggarwal of class XI held the first position to his credit in the most creative video category under SPACE ASTRO PODCAST CONTEST2016 thus proving that innovation is the only way to win. Crossing over 2,000 entries and winning honor with his tremendous presentation skills of the students, his video focused on the Big Crunch Big Bounce Theory which stated how the Earth will shrink and come to an end and the factors causing the extremity. The principal of the school who was elated at the win, expressed her ecstatic feeling in the following words, “We are here to nurture the flowering capability of every young dynamic learner. Wings do not take you to heights…..it’s the winds that take you there. The school is proud to have him and we will make sure that the sun, moon and the stars become the harbinger of triumph.”
A workshop on Health and Hygiene was organized by the school on 16 September2016. The speaker, Mr. BhaaveshSuryakant (Founder Director of Excellence Educo. Director SKVMEDIA, Editor of the website- thecounsellor.in), began with the core qualities of a teacher: Heart, Passion and Desire to Succeed. It takes 21 days of healthy eating and working out and jollyhealth will become a good friend of yours. The session further focused on the trill to eat clean, drink water, stay active, be healthy. The speaker further touched on the role reversal of drinking food and eating water and DO’S and DON’TS of what to eat and what not to. Overall it was a good learning for the teachers as it became quite evident that healthy bodies give way to healthy eating and healthy teaching.
