Three Day Tie
GD Goenka Confluence 2017 was an endeavor for all branches across the world to get together and get a platform to share their ideas and experiences. The three day tie was from 22-24June 2017 at the GD Goenka University. The speakers presented their views on Innovations in Education and the need to introduce them at the right time. The sole aim of the workshop was to make the world understand that - we do not make machines but such beings who are empathetic to the needs of the society. The Principal of the school along with two senior faculty members attended the three day program and the experience was something non pareil.
A moment’s insight is sometimes worth a life’s experience. Swami Mhamandleshwar Martand Puri took everyone on the path of spirituality and enlightenment with his empowering words. Further, Dr. Samir Parekh, Director of Dept. of mental health and behavioral sciences, Fortis Health Care, touched upon the approach of Inclusive Education and the need to accept children not because they are vulnerable but equal.
Another astounding feature of the three day tie was a descriptive workshop conducted by Dr. Manisha Sahni- CEO Mind the Mind. She stressed on the fact that the hardest prison to escape is the mind and how important it is to train it to see the good in every situation. The experience was explicatory in itself.
An initiative to acquaint the facilitators with the importance of value education in schools, Dr. Nischal Kapoor, Vice President, IBM, USA, pointed out that education without values might turn the child into a machine. He further talked asbout the importance of value education calling it the need of the hour. The three day program was not only about grasping and learning. Afterall, all work no play makes jack dull and Jill cranky. The teachers were thoroughly kept entertained by the students of the university who organized a gala time for the facilitators. Recollecting the entire experience, the principal of the school, Dr. Ragini Kaul said that teachers at work means something is in the making. The clock keeps ticking and does its work and guides us day and night with the time. I allow my teachers to explore…explore the vast…and prepare them to manufacture prodigies.”
